My 6 Favorite Coffee Shops Around the World (So Far)
I’m relatively new to the coffee scene so I’m sure there’s a percentage of you who will want to “come at me” for this list. Bear in mind that this is quite literally MY favorite list of coffee shops of places I’ve visited.
Tram Depot – Rome, Italy
The Tram Depot is an absolutely adorable outdoor cafe in the heart of Rome. One of my favorite bloggers, An American in Rome, always seemed to be hanging out here, so I knew I had to give it a try. The quaint outdoor seating alongside the hustle and bustle of the city provides a beautiful, contemplative juxtaposition to the world speeding by. I remember enjoying my cappuccino and croissant, people watching, and feeling recharged for the first time in days. Tram Depot remains my favorite cafe in the world – so far.
Heritage Coffee & Bicycles – Chicago, USA
Yes, that man is Trevor Noah. If it’s good enough for that cool glass of South African water it’s good enough for me. Jokes aside – Heritage has been my go-to spot for years. With multiple locations throughout the city, it is a bike repair shop that meets a vintage coffee house. I bring folks from out of town here and I bring myself here either for a self-love date or to get some blogging done. I recommend the Lakeview location on Lincoln Ave. most.
Café Tomaselli – Salzburg, Austria
Mozart began his life in Salzburg, and here you join him where he drank! Cafes are a huge part of Austrian culture, and Mozart himself enjoyed visiting Café Tomaselli. The Austrians say that this cafe is both a place to see and be seen. And I could see why. The servers were dressed to the nines. Now, don’t let that stop you from popping in for a bite. While a bit pricier than other institutions, the experience, and quiet glamour of the cafe are not easily duplicated.
Queen of Tarts – Dublin, Ireland
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day – and Queen of Tarts delivered. With two locations in Dublin, one on Cows Lane and the other on Cork Hill, you’re sure to have time for a delicious bite of scone and a rejuvenating cup of coffee. Queen of Tarts is truly a quaint local haunt, filled with old Ireland charm. In addition to baked goods, they provide full breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea.
Friends Cafe – Beijing, China
This may be cheesy – but as a FRIENDS nerd, this was a dream come true. Tucked into a busy Beijing mall, the FRIENDS cafe welcomes you with a perfect replica of the iconic Central Perk. Sit on the famous orange couch and watch re-runs for hours while sipping on your latte or enjoying a baked good. Or, take a beer and head over to the full replica of Joey and Chandler’s apartment to play some fuseball.
Victrola Coffee Roasters – Seattle, USA
Seattle is known for its coffee, so you can’t really go wrong anywhere. The Victrola is located in Seattle’s historic auto-row and maintains the charm of the 1920s working-class past. Near Capitol Hill, the roastery is home to both a training and cupping room. It’s both a place to enjoy your cup of Joe and get an education on your coffee if you so, please!.
