Miami Beach Boutique Hotels: Circa 39 Hotel

A delightful, vibrant, and travel-inspired boutique hotel in the heart of Miami Beach.

While Circa 39 provided accommodations, all opinions are my own.

"Worldly. Relaxed. Authentic. Vibrant. Inclusive"

Try saying that five times fast.

Circa 39 Hotel in Miami Beach self-identifies as those words – and they are right on the money.

This delightful boutique hotel sits steps from Miami Beach and boasts aesthetic decor inspired by wanderlust.

I was having a bit of a cranky day, and truly the minute I started my check-in process at Circa 39 my day began to turn around. I noticed that the staff have a “fun-fact” under their name badge. Those facts include things like “road-tripper” and “traveler”. This is the sort of laid-back vibe I love in my stays.

After a thorough welcome, I headed upstairs to my King bed overlooking the string-light lit pool and patio. My room was thoughtfully decorated with art showcasing Miami, and a nod toward travel.

After recovering from a long Miami day in my room, I headed downstairs to grab a drink at the in-house WunderBar. Their extensive cocktail list will satisfy any cocktail snob looking for the “best” in Miami Beach. I took my drink poolside and enjoyed the ambiance of this modern oasis. High green bushes surround the patio, blocking out the hustle and bustle of the streets below.

After a day of lounging, it was time to hit the snooze button. I woke up early to check out the gym. During the pandemic, you need to make a reservation to use the gym, and it is limited to two people. I had no problem getting in on an early Monday morning. The gym itself is small but much better than I expected, as it’s not an amenity Circa 39 highlights. It had a water dispenser, free weights, elliptical machines, a stationary bike, and a weight machine.

After my workout, I headed back to my room to try using the Aveda Spa bath products. Circa 39’s sister location, The Palms Hotel & Spa, is home to the Aveda Spa. Lucky for you, that means you can try out some of their delightful bath and shower products for free. I remember drying off my hair thinking “wow, this is the best smell my hair has ever had.”

Breakfast “to-go” is a nice treat to start your day

I took the elevator downstairs to the lobby to pick-up my complimentary “to-go” breakfast. Before the pandemic, they offered a lavish breakfast buffet from their in-house restaurant Jules Kitchen. However, to keep folks safe, you simply make your way to the restaurant, tell a server your room number and they hand you a pre-made breakfast with orange juice, fruit, a croissant, and your choice of coffee or tea.

Before packing up to catch my flight I did a little bit of work poolside to soak in the last of the Miami sunshine. Circa 39 will easily top my list of favorite places to work remotely. I took a stroll through Circa 39’s Instagram worthy back garden and headed up to grab my bags. I, unfortunately, wasn’t able to enjoy the beach, but Circa 39 does have Miami Beach property where you can use their chairs and towels at no additional charge.

I went downstairs to drop off my key card (this is strongly encouraged to help reduce waste) and was bid farewell by yet another lovely staffer. He seemed truly sad to see me leave and it made saying goodbye to Circa 39 even harder.

My takeaway from Circa 39 is that it is the perfect home for a true traveler. If you’re looking for that intimate feel, but with a splash of unique luxury, Circa 39 expresses that. I joked to my friend that Circa 39 seemed to know exactly how I would build a hotel in my head.

I will definitely be recommending Circa 39 to my fellow travelers, and if you’re someone who has been following this page, I believe Circa 39 is likely right up your alley.
