Teton Tips: Cascade Canyon

Want to see moose? Waterfalls? Boulders? Then this is the hike for you. Take the ferry across Jenny Lake (unless you want to add an extra four miles to your hike – but you be you). As we approached in the ferry, a bull moose was standing in the water. He then proceeded to walk up to our trailhead and hangout there. There is no getting past a bull moose!

Grand Tetons

Head to the Jenny Lake Visitor Center to find the ferry. See that canyon? That’s where you’re going!

You have a few options here. You can walk under a mile to Hidden Falls and see one of the best waterfalls you will ever see. We hiked on a piping hot July day, and entering the cove of the waterfall was the best natural air conditioning you could ever ask for.

Want to go further? Time to start going up! The famous “inspiration point” is only a mile into this trail, but it is a steep mile. I am a rock climber, and consider myself to be in good shape, but man oh man I was panting! However –the view is indeed inspiring.

Good news! If you want to continue on – things level out here. I highly recommend if you are of able body and have the time to keep on hiking once you reached Inspiration point. The trail takes you through a stunning valley between the Tetons filled with lush forest and wildlife. We saw three moose!

This isn’t the hardest hike you will ever do, but make sure you have plenty of water. The Tetons didn’t come to play.
