Can Beginners Raft in Costa Rica?

If this is your first-time white water rafting, don't worry – there are plenty of tours that cater to beginners. Most operators offer half-day or full-day trips and will provide you with all the necessary gear, including a life jacket, helmet, and wet suit. They'll also give you a thorough safety briefing before you hit the water.

When is the Best Time to White Water Raft in Costa Rica?

The best time of year to raft in Costa Rica is during the dry season, which runs from December to April. However, keep in mind that some rivers are closed during this time due to high water levels. The rainy season (May to November) is a better time to go if you're looking for more challenging rapids, as the rivers are fuller and faster.

Who Should You Book a Tour With?

Amigos del Rio is a white water rafting company that offers trips on some of the most challenging rivers in Costa Rica. If you're looking for an adventure that will test your skills, this is the place to go. Amigos del Rio has been operating for over 25 years, and its experienced guides will ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable trip.

You could tell these guys were pros. The owner happened to be with us this day as our safety officer. He had some major Costa Rican Eugene Levy vibes and he was literally FLIPPING in his raft for fun. It was quite the sight.

About half way through the multi-hour ride, we parked the rafts and took a short hike to a waterfall where we swam and enjoyed refreshing, fresh pineapple before heading back to shore. Plus, for $20 per person in your raft, you can take home some awesome photos like we did.

In addition to an awesome time on the river, they served us a huge traditional Costa Rican lunch after our ride. Plus, they have the fluffiest office dog you could ever imagine!
