4 Beaches to Visit in Milos, Greece

Woman overlooking Tsigrado Beach in Milos

Aphrodite's Island, aka Milos, has blown up as a Greek island beach destination over the last few years. I finally had the opportunity to swing by, and I am so glad I did.

The beaches here are truly unique. They are filled with coves, colorful caves, and crystal clear blue water.

But before you decide to bring the love of your life to this beach – know that is it called "the island of lovers". And not for all the rosy good reasons. Greek legend has it that after a couple visits Milos, they will even get engaged or break up shortly there after.

So if you're ready to risk it, check out four of my favorite beaches on the island.

Tsigrado Beach

I loved Tsigrado Beach. However, it needs to be noted that it is not accessible to everyone. You must climb down two extremely steep and vertical ladders to access the beach from land. If you're not in good physical condition, I suggest skipping this one.

That being said, I am a person with anxiety. And it looked way worse than it actually was. Once you get going, everything feels pretty natural. But, again, I am in pretty good shape and rock climb as a hobby.

If you do choose to do the climb, you are rewarded with crystal-clear waters and delightful coves and caves to explore. Bring your snorkeling gear (in a backpack for easy climbing) and enjoy the underwater life!

There are no services on Tsigrado beach, so come prepared with food and water. Also, be sure to pack out any trash you bring in. Let's keep this place beautiful!

Friends at Sarakiniko Beach in Milos

Sarakiniko Beach (The Moon Beach)

When you google photos of Milos, Sarakiniko Beach is what will appear. Its unique appearance created by the erosion of volcanic rock has attracted geologists, beach goers, travel bloggers (guilty), and influencers for years. Its gained reputation as “The Moon Beach” due to its space-like appearance.

While it wasn't my favorite beach in Milos for a swim, it is really cool and definitely worth visiting. There is truly nothing else like it. If the waves aren't too crazy, you can even cliff jump in specific areas!

Papafragka Beach

The actual swimming zone at Papafragka Beach is minimal. However, the impressive geological sites make it worth swinging by on your way to or from Moon Beach (they're just a short drive apart). In addition to a quick dip, you can climb over seemingly endless rock formations (heaven for a boulderer like me) and take in sweeping views of the island. The beach is also next to an archaeological site that you can visit for a small fee.

Fyriplaka Beach

Fyriplaka Beach is just a stone's throw away from Tsigardo Beach but much easier to reach. This is an organized beach that has services and ample parking. The water on this side of the island is generally calm and makes an excellent spot for families, snorkeling, boat tours, and other beach-vacation essentials.
